Papier Maché

Arts and crafts have always been a part of my life.

In 2002 I began experimenting with Papier Maché and reinventing the medium. I start with paper, white glue, flour and water. Then I build on that structure with CelluClay.

My pieces have the look of clay pottery or carved wood. I might add branches, rope, stones or a variety of other materials and finish with acrylic paint and sealers. Although sealed, they are not to be used with liquid. Each creation is unique, as I make one of each design.

I belong to the Southwest Michigan Artists’ Association in Paw Paw, MI.

I have been juried into several area shows: The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Kalamazoo, MI; The Box Factory for the Arts, St. Joseph, MI; The Dowagiac Dogwood Fine Arts Festival, Dowagiac, MI; The Westminster Art Festival, Portage, MI; The Carnegie Center for the Arts, Three Rivers, MI. In 2013 I was awarded one of the Jurors’ awards.
